The Center for Sustainable Urbanism (CfSU) was founded in 2012 by Harvard-educated architects and urbanists Robert M. Karn and Gail Whitney Karn. Its mission is to provide pre-college education to young adults on the environment with an emphasis on, but not limited to, the built environment.
CfSU has no drop-down menu for its programs. Each one is tailored to the needs of an individual school. This educational non-profit collaborates with a secondary school to offer it a program meeting its sustainability education goals and budgetary constraints, compatible with its academic calendar.
Since 2015, CfSU has developed programs to study sustainability in the cities of Rome, Venice, Florence, and Naples while also having program in rural areas of Italy from the Mediterranean to the Adriatic Sea, from the marshes to the Sibillini Mountains.
